31. Zafehouse: Diaries is a tactical game of survival, planning,
32. resource management and problem-solving. Manage your survivors'
33. needs, prejudices and motivations and you might stay around long
34. enough to be rescued.
35. Pick your battles
36. A sophisticated combat engine models all battles in the game, from
37. a zombie slipping in through a bathroom window, to a swarm flooding
38. into the hospital you thought was secure. The combat engine takes
39. into account each survivor's abilities and relationships, the
40. environment, weapons, items and more.
41. Task-based UI
42. A simple, streamlined interface makes it easy to issue orders to
43. your survivors, without getting bogged down in micromanagement. Will
44. you get them to search the location, watch for zombies, barricade
45. the windows, lay traps, prepare food or patrol outside?
46. Face dilemmas
47. Will you leave a survivor trapped in the basement with some zombies
48. so you can prepare for a fight? What if the Piper drops by and says
49. heÆll lead some zombies away from the house as long as you give him
50. some live bait? Dilemmas force you to make difficult choices for the
51. good of the group.
52. Know your survivors
53. Survivors have unique personalities and skills û use them wisely
54. and the group will work efficiently. But they don't just wait around
55. for you to give them an order. TheyÆll explore, maintain barricades,
56. socialise, play games and tinker.
57. Relationships matter
58. Make sure you check in on your survivors and see how they're
59. getting along. Poor relationships mean they won't work well
60. together, and may even end up fighting or worse.
